High-Resolution Spectroscopy of the ErCrO3 Crystal: A New Phase Transition?

Infrared absorption spectra of the ErCrO 3 crystal in region $$f{-} f$$ transitions Er 3+ ion are recorded for first time. An analysis high-resolution temperature-dependent reveals a step at $$T{\kern 1pt} ' = 47$$ K on temperature dependences characteristics spectral lines, addition to features temperatures magnetic ordering T N 133 and spin-reorientation transition $${{T}_{{{\text{SR}}}}} 9.3{\kern $$ K. This feature can be associated with either previously unknown phase or local changes structure. The shape lines liquid helium indicates presence additional positions ions crystal. Presumably, these near uncontrolled impurities that enter during its growth by solution–melt method form regions distorted structure responsible occurrence polarization.
